?What?do I know about relationships? Not a whole lot. Who does any more? Even John Gray, the guy that wrote ?Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus? got divorced, but that was six years before he wrote the books.?Boy, I sure do wish I knew something about them, because?people keep telling me I should have one.?People keep telling me I should have children too. Well, at fifty years old, I really don?t think that is the best path for me any more. What is wrong with being single? Then I get others who tell me about the problems they are having?with their relationships?and ask me for advice. What?! Me?! Give advice on an institution I know nothing about! They want me to tell them how to be successful in that particular institution. They are asking me about the wrong institution! I don?t really understand social mores of relationships or how to get them to work. I understand how important it was centuries ago, but a lot of things have changed since then.
The courting process, or what use to be the courting process was to determine if?the person was someone who you would want to?have children with and raise said children to adulthood. The children should be raised in such a manner?where they would then go on and do the same to continue the spieces. So that?turns into marriage. Marriage being two people? to raising children to become contributing members of society. Now Hilary is saying it takes a village. Well I don?t know her but I prefer monogamous relationships. I find it far less confusing, less insulting, more respectful?and a lot cleaner as did our ancestors. A married couple had offspring and fee them and taught them how to interact with the community. Some were farmers, others made clothing, and others hunted. Simple. Staying with the same person enabled each individual to know whose child was whose for the sake of inheritance. Plus it was good for the child to have some consistency and stability, which makes for a balance adult.?This whole scenario makes sense.
Now we have DNA testing, hhmmm. Now we have to talk to each other because we aren?t to busy in the fields or behind a spinning wheel. We have far to much time to actually get to know the person we share a bed with, and why the hell won?t they stop snoring?! So now what? Well, don?t ask me! I have no idea. I guess we have to work at these relationships. As if the stress of rush hour and work isn?t enough. So why is it still one of the strongest social mores across the globe to married and have children?
With an over populated world are we still worried about the survival of our spieces? Millions are now worried about over population and how the human numbers are putting other species and the rest of the earth at risk. This in turn jeopardizes our own species. This scenario doesn?t make sense. I am part of a large family. I have 8 siblings and a number of nieces and nephews who I love dearly. When someone asks me why I don?t have any children, I point to the fact that I have never been married and I have plenty of rent-a-kids that I can return when they get cranky. I have the best of both worlds. To some that answer isn?t good enough, Dawn. I won?t mention any names, but someone I worked with when I lived?in Las Vegas,?would not stop badgering me about having kids. Dawn. I was about 45 at the time. She?had a nice size brood of her own that she could hardly feed at times. Yet she still thought I should of had children even though I was never married. Dawn. Do Not ever harass someone about not having children! They may not be physically?capable of having children, Dawn! and their medical issue is none of your business, Dawn! I don?t have a medical condition, but I don?t want to have any children, DAWN! It appears that somehow the social mores of today are more accepting?of single women on welfare with children than single woman without children. I think that is ridiculous, and I can?t make sense of that or?how that happened. That person in Las Vegas wasn?t the only one to badger me about having children.
Apparently I have golden eggs and I was supposed to find the man with golden sperm, but unfortunately for the world our paths never crossed. Apparently I was supposed to have given birth to The New World leader so that when civilization as we know it today is destroyed on December 21, 2012, you won?t have anyone to lead you from the darkness.?This is all because of my selfishness. I?satisfied with the family I have today, so I never had the children. Now the world is doomed.?Sorry.
I?m guessing that coming from a large family has given me the sense of connection that so many search the world for. I don?t feel the need to be married. I always said that if someone comes along that I relate to?so deeply that I want to spend the rest of my life with then maybe I?ll get married. That has not happened. I would rather be single?(not alone) then in a relationship that?didn?t work. I always thought I should get married, but knew I didn?t want the life long commitment. But what is marriage today anyway, or relationships for that matter. I?m not really sure. If you want advice you should tune into Dr. Phil or write to Dear Abby. Maybe you can watch?Maury Povich to see what not to do.?From what I hear after some people get married they give up on their health, get complacant with life in general and never have sex. The wife nags and the husband drinks or stays out late. Then the wife takes all the money and leaves. Well fellas, I?ll save you the trouble. Drink all you want, go where ever you want, and I won?t nag. You won?t have to see me cut my hair and gain 50 pounds, just send me your money and you can consider yourself divorced. Then when people ask you and I both can say ?I was married but it didn?t work out?. You will never get your heart broke, and?no children will get hurt in the process. If there are any takers let me know I?ll set up a PO Box and you can send your checks there.
